The World Monuments Fund is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of endangered architectural and cultural sites worldwide. Founded in 1965, the organization has been working to prevent the loss of historic structures at more than 500 sites in over 90 countries. The World Monuments Fund s projects includes the temple complexes at Angkor Vat, Cambodia; historic center of Mexico City; Nicholas Hawksmoor's London masterpiece; St. George's, Bloomsbury; and 18th-century Qianlong Garden complex in Beijing's Forbidden City. The organization through offices and affiliates in Paris; London; Madrid; and Lisbon, Portugal, works with local partners and communities to identify and save important heritage through fieldwork, advocacy, education, project planning, grant-making and on-site training. The World Monuments Fund maintains a location in New York City.
