The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center (WHMCC) serves as a hub for cultural, educational, and recreational programs throughout the community, and for visitors starting or continuing their canal adventure. Located in the 1830 Hugh White Homestead at 2 Museum Lane, just off Saratoga Avenue (Route 32) in the town of Waterford, it is situated at the end of the Champlain Canal tow-path walking trail. The WHMCC collaborates with the Town, Village, and other organizations to preserve and interpret our unique heritage as the Gateway to the Erie Canal. The museum’s permanent exhibit features the history of Waterford and the surrounding area, with additional temporary exhibit spaces, and the George and Annabel O’Connor Library/Archive for research. There are exciting programs continuously offered throughout the year, both on site and in various locations around the Town and Village.
