HistoryIn 1972 Ben Porpora opened Big Ben Jewelers in Rock Hill, NY along side the dodge Inn Steak House in Lake Louis Marie. Ben moved the store to the original Shoprite plaza in Monticello, NY and partnered with his brother and sister in-law Robert ( Bob ) and Anita Porpora. Years Following Ben retired leaving Robert and Anita sole owners of Big Ben Jewelers. Robert brought his son, Anthony, into the business in 1983 where he started learning the trade of a bench jeweler doing repairs. They then moved into the Apollo Mall in Monticello, NY during the late 80's. Later Bob and Anita retired leaving Anthony sole owner and professional bench jeweler of the shop. 24 years later Big Ben Jewelers is located next to Aldi's shopping plaza in conjunction with First Class Formal Wear.
