History

VEDC's mission is to create and sustain jobs and businesses in our communities by providing high-quality small business development services. Since 1976, the mission of VEDC has expanded in order to respond to the financial assistance and development needs of entrepreneurs conducting business in low to moderate-income communities. * During the last 40 years, VEDC has originated & facilitated bank and direct lending of over $400 million to more than 108,000 small businesses and non-profit organizations in California, Nevada, Chicago, Miami, and the Tri-State area. * In the past 20 years, VEDC has graduated over 3,000 low to moderate-income entrepreneurs from our Entrepreneurial Training Program - over 70% of these graduates are still in business. * After the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, VEDC assisted more than 10,000 San Fernando Valley businesses in securing over $120 million in SBA disaster assistance. * Recently celebrated 40 years of successful small business lending!
