Established in 1965, the Ogden Police Department aims at preserving a peaceful and safe environment through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. It conducts lessons on personal and gun safety, peer pressure, decision making and the proper use of drugs and medicines. The Ogden Police Department maintains a communication center that offers fire-related, police protection and medical services. The department supports a citizens police academy that provides information about the criminal justice system. It maintains a location in Spencerport, N.Y.
