Established in 1997, Ivan Shapiro House is 55-bed residential facility for homeless and mentally ill individuals. It is funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health and offers treatment, self-help, vocational support and rehabilitative services to its residents. The facility also provides health care, mental health counseling, and community integration, daily living and parenting skills development services. It offers psychiatric, vocational rehabilitative, and medication and case management services. Ivan Shapiro House additionally provides several group programs that focus on substance abuse recovery, youth empowerment, housing advancements, recreational events, and banking and budgeting-related issues. Located in New York City, the facility is a part of Urban Pathways, which was established in 1975 and operates more than five housing facilities for mentally ill people in the state of New York.
