Strand Book Store was opened by Benjamin Bass in 1927 on 4th Avenue's Book Row. The store specializes in a variety of new, used, rare, out-of-print and art books. It features one of the largest rare books collections in New York City. The collection includes first and signed editions of several modern books and a range of hard-to-find art and photography books. Strand Book Store offers various special services to libraries, universities and other institutions. The store also provides a selection of books for homeowners and interior, film and television set decorators. With over 200 employees, it offers books on several topics, including fiction, history, medical, music, philosophy, photography, religion, science and math.
