History
Whether experiencing the way light affects a room or appreciating the table lamp as a sculptural object, at Stone and Sawyer we love lighting. For the last three years we have been designing and creating our first collection of table lamps inspired by modernist design. We work exclusively with American woodworkers, metal finishers, and lampshade manufacturers. In our ceramic studio in the northwest edge of the Catskill Mountains of New York, we produce our stoneware ceramic lamp bodies, carefully preparing and glazing each by hand. Every lamp is made with hand finished black walnut necks and bases, blackened brass metal parts and handmade shades in white or natural linen. Our cords are cloth covered and each lamp is UL listed. Our packaging is 99% recycled and recyclable. Stone and Sawyer is the combined vision of David Ryan and Julian Peploe. Throughout the rest of 2014 we will release new designs beginning with the Laurel and the Miller.
