In 1932, Walton Scherer was hired to build Northport Village Park at the foot of Main Street in Northport. Construction was completed in 1933. The community park is located at the foot of Main Street and consists of two large grassy areas, two playgrounds and two gazebos with two (large) free parking lots between them. There's also a bandshell where many free public concerts take place. The northern-most playground offers metal slides, swings, see-saws, two roundabouts and several benches. Restrooms are nearest to here. The playground on the southern portion of the park is newer with vinyl slides, monkey bars, swings and a basketball court. The park also features the village dock that sits in Northport Harbor and has 15 slips. There are no reservations required and the first two hours are free. A mobile pump-out boat operates through October and will come to visiting vessels if hailed on VHF channel 9. Many annual community events take place here including the pre-prom party, concerts and Cow Harbor Day activities.
