The Department of Environment and Waterways (DEW) analyzes the environmental impact of all public and private projects and makes environmental recommendations to the Town Board. The Department initiates environmental improvement projects regarding erosion control, wildlife habitat improvement, drainage systems, shellfish seeding programs and woodland restoration. Environmental Protection Director Russell K. Barnett and his team also implement recycling campaigns, promoting responsible waste management among community members.
