Port Chester High School houses more than 1,100 students in a historic building overlooking a sprawling, 23-acre campus.
The school's iconic clock tower and prominent athletic fields -- the site of the town's celebrated July 4th fireworks -- are features recognizable to any village resident.
High school officials cite the school's diversity as one of its main strengths, and the student body reflects the village's demographics. The mix includes students from places like Brazil, Mexico and Peru, as well as white, black and Hispanic Port Chester natives from families who have lived in the village for generations. Eighty-nine percent of Port Chester High School graduates went on to higher education last year, with alumni representing the school at universities like Harvard, Cornell, Iona, Rutgers and NYU.
The school offers advanced placement, as well as college-level courses in subjects like English, Pre-Calculus and Statistics.
One third of students participate in school sports, and taking the field as the Rams for soccer, football, baseball, wrestling, softball, cross-country and basketball.
