The Plainview Volunteer Fire Department, located on Long Island 35 miles east of New York City, provides fire protection and emergency services to the hamlets of Plainview, Old Bethpage, and parts of Woodbury. We have a staff of 100 members, all volunteers, and our apparatus consists of six engines, two ladders, one heavy rescue, three ALS equipped ambulances and two medical first responder Fly Cars ; all housed in three stationhouses. Our area of protection is approximately 9.4 square miles. We protect 30, 000 residences, three industrial parks, and the Long Island Expressway ( Rte 495 ), Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway ( Rte 135 ), and the Northern State Parkway. Our members attend countless hours of drilling to keep them up to the task of providing our service to the community at large. We are an aggressive interior attack department with a grand history of success.
