The Onondaga County Water Authority, located in North Syracuse, N.Y., is one of the largest public water suppliers in the United States. The organization provides drinking water to more than 340,000 consumers in Oswego, Onondaga, Madison and Oneida, N.Y. The consumers receive water that originates from Otisco Lake, Lake Ontario and Skaneateles Lake in New York. The customers located in certain areas get a mixture of these waters as their water source may vary with changes in seasonal demand. The Onondaga County Water Authority supplies more than 40 million gallons a day to residential consumers, large industrial customers and municipal wholesale customers. It also supplies water to other central New York community water systems via emergency interconnections.
