Reformed Church of Tarrytowns

Continuing the tradition of the Old Dutch Church, the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns has been operating since 1697. In 1851, the church split into two congregations and in 1991, the two congregations reunited as the Reformed Church. Today, the Protestant church continues to serve the population of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow in the iconic Town Clock Church on Broadway. The congregation also holds weddings, summer services, holiday services and special events in the historic Old Dutch Church. Its pastor is Reverend Jeffrey Gargano.

Shiloh Baptist Church

Shiloh Baptist Church is the second oldest church for the African-American community in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. This designated landmark was organized in 1883, the same year Henry T. Smith established The Tarrytown Herald - a weekly community newspaper. According to Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow (NY) (Images of America) by The Historical Society, Shiloh Baptist Church parishioners needed a place to worship. One year after the church was formed, Smith built an opera house on the southeast corner of Washington and Wildey Streets. The congregation bought it in 1885 and renovated it for use. Housed in a pale yellow two-story building with stained-glass windows, Shiloh Baptist Church is a pillar in the neighborhood. Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. are led by Rev. Donna Smith-Taylor, pastor.
