The Nyack Hospital Thrift Shop has been taking donations and helping those in need for about 40 years. Located in Nyack's Franklin antique center and run by the Nyack Hospital Auxiliary, the thrift shop is staffed by volunteers and donates all profits to the hospital. The store's inventory includes casual clothing, evening and wedding gowns, electronics, holiday decorations, furniture, kitchen items, music, books, movies and children's toys. All types of donations are accepted, and unsold items go to needy charities, including those in Haiti and Nicaragua. "We are here to provide the community with items that a lot of our customers cannot afford in the regular market," says Phyllis Darrin, the store's manager since 1996.
