New York Therapeutic Communities is a nonprofit corporation that provides substance-abuse treatment services to adults in the criminal justice system. The organization operates in-prison and community-based residential programs that utilize a therapeutic-community model. Since its inception in 1977, NYTC has successfully treated thousands of men and women. It helps participants to lead productive lives free from drugs and crime. New York Therapeutic Communities has trained corrections personnel in nearly 40 states and 10 countries. Its Stay'n Out program is based upon the principles of personal responsibility, self-help and mutual care. The Serendipity programs prepare individuals involved in the criminal justice system for re-entry into society. New York Therapeutic Communities is based in New York.
