The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services is a multifunction criminal justice support agency that is responsible for statewide crime data collection and analysis and operation of the DNA databank and criminal fingerprint files. The division is also responsible for the administration of the federal and state criminal justice funds and supporting criminal justice-related agencies through the state. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services performs criminal history checks, fingerprint operations, grant funds coordination, public safety functions and law enforcement training services. Additionally, it provides accreditations to the state s police departments and forensic laboratories. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services offers sex offender management and human trafficking prevention services.
