The National Dance Institute, also known as NDI, is a nonprofit facility that serves more than 35,000 public school children and their families in New York City annually. The institute s several dancers come from low-income communities. It provides a range of advanced programs for children up to the age of 14. The National Dance Institute additionally offers professional development workshops for classroom teachers. The institute s after-school classes are open to the general public. In addition, it hosts two-week workshops for professional dancers, dance educators and musicians. The National Dance Institute provides scholarships, as well as operates the Star Builders Club. The institute manages the Alumni Association of National Dance Institute.
