The Nanuet Union Free School District is a public school system in the town of Clarkstown. The central administrative offices are in Nanuet Senior High School. The district includes G. W. Miller Elementary School, Highview Elementary School, A. MacArthur Barr Middle School and Nanuet Senior High School. As of October 2010, the total enrollment for the district is 2341 students with the following breakdowns by school: Miller 513; Highview 349; Barr 741; Nanuet HS 696. The school district's graduation rate is about 95 percent percent, well above the statewide average graduation rate of 76 percent.
Mark McNeill is the superintendent of schools. The district's office of student support services develops programs and services for students with disabilities and educational needs. All schools are handicap accessable. The district also has a free universal pre-K program for 4-year-olds.
The district dates back to 1812 and Nanuet as a district began around 1949. The secondary school opened in 1959 with the first graduating class in 1961.
