Founded in 1883, the Modern Language Association of America offers its members an opportunity to share their scholarly findings and teaching experiences with colleagues and to discuss trends in the academy. MLA members host an annual convention and other meetings, work with related organizations and sustain publishing programs in the humanities. The association has more than 30,000 members in over 100 countries. The MLA Annual Convention attracts over 9,000 scholars from around the world who present their research, visit the book exhibit and interact with their colleagues. The Modern Language Association of America is located in New York City.
