History
In 1999, with funds from the Initiative for Public Interest at Yale University, Ms. Cano formed a non-profit organization that provided her first clients with workshops and conferences on immigration law. After forming a community center in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, she created an immigration clinic that helped over 1700 immigrant clients. The investigation and the direction of these immigration cases led her to criminal and immigration practice which she developed fervently after leaving the community center.
