The Massapequa Fire Department Merrick Road Firehouse is also know as Engine Company 4 East End. Overall, the Massapequa Fire Department has around 270 members. These firefighters are are based out of the Merrick Road Firehouse and two other fire houses. Combined, the Massapequa Fire Department responds to around 2,400 calls yearly. The department covers Massapequa, Massapequa Park and East Massapequa. The first fire department in Massapequa was founded in 1910. The Massapequa Fire Department will be celebrating its 100th anniversary weekend in 2010.
