In 1935, during the Great Depression, Francis died, leaving his wife Marcelle and four young children. Against the advice of many individuals (who could not envision a woman running an oil company ) and warnings from competitors threatening to steal customers, Marcelle Marran took up the challenge of running Marran Oil. She not only succeeded in keeping the business going, but it was under her leadership that the company flourished and expanded. In 1948 Bill Marran stepped into his mother's shoes. He created the 24-Hour Service Department to accommodate a growing customer base. Bill introduced the All-Risk Service Contract that included his telephone number, a tradition still in effect today. In 1990, Bill Marran revolutionized the oil selling business by rolling out the first Fixed Price Contract. He offered a lock in fixed price on oil for the whole year. A warm and generous man, he was always accessible to his customers. In 1994 Bill Marran retired. Jack is proud to be the fourth generation in the business. He Credits his grandmother and father for passing to him a wealth of knowledge. He has kept to his family's tradition of personalized service; like his father, Jack puts his telephone number in Marran's All Risk Service Contract. Building on Marran's past, Jack has added Alarm and Air Conditioning to the services Marran provides its customers.
