History
I have been teaching music lessons ever since I was in High School, but moved to NYC in 2006 where my studio really began in earnest. Since then I have taught lessons out of my home, first in Carroll Gardens and now in Park Slope Brooklyn, to a plethora of varying students. I carry about 15 students or so at any one time, but always have room for more, and keep VERY flexible hours.
Specialties
Loxley String Studios specializes in 1 on 1 music education, including cello lessons, violin lessons, and music theory. Using combinations of Suzuki and other methodologies, and an expansive and varying repertoire of music, Loxley String Studios makes learning and teaching student-centric. Whether it is classical music, pop, bluegrass, country, or even heavy metal (!), I make sure to listen to my students, understand who they are as people, what they like, and what they want to accomplish in their lessons. I have a GREAT amount of experience teaching beginners, including adult beginners. This probably makes up a good 50% of my current studio, so if you are an adult that has always loved the cello or violin and is thinking of taking the plunge into learning for the first time, I would be thrilled to help you! I also have tons of experience with kids and young people, of ALL experience levels. I have 3 music degrees, and am certified in NYS for Music Education. Hope to hear from you!!
