Founded in 1980, Long Island School for the Gifted is a private, nonprofit educational facility that enrolls more than 280 students in pre-kindergarten through grade nine. Also known as LISG, the school serves the residents of Suffolk and Nassau counties in New York. Its curriculum includes Spanish, math, biology, physics, chemistry, French and English. Long Island School for the Gifted offers extracurricular activities, such as drama, art and chorus. The school operates recorder and yearbook clubs. It provides special education classes for gifted and talented students. Long Island School for the Gifted has a library, gymnasium, cafeteria, and computer and music rooms. The school administers a pre-kindergarten program.
