Long Island Federation of Labor is the local branch of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations representing Suffolk and Nassau counties. It is the fourth largest cental labor union in the country, representing over 250,000 union members. The organization advocates legally and politically on infastructural issues affecting business on Long Island, such as transportation and federal founding. Two recent issues supported by the organization include saving Long Island Bus and keeping John. J. Foley Nursing Home open to the public.
