Established in 1912, the Long Beach Police Department is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in Nassau County. The 77-man force is lead by Acting Commissioner Michael Tangney, who has more than 30 years of experience in the department. The LBPD has a bicycle and beach patrol, marine and motorcycle unit, as well as a narcotics task force and juvenile aid bureau. The department also has an auxilary police depatment, located on East Park Avenue, which is run by Deputy Police Commissioner Joshua Sundquist. The LBPD has a confidential tip line at 705-7370.
