The Joslin Diabetes Center at the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse opened in 1995 as the eleventh affiliate of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, and provides care to the largest number of patients with diabetes of any center in Central New York. Here specialists in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism care for patients with disorders of the major glands of the body, diabetes, osteoporosis, and other metabolic diseases. An internationally recognized leader in diabetes treatment, research, and education, the Joslin Diabetes Center is affiliated with Harvard Medical School and has been caring for the medical and emotional needs of people with diabetes since it was founded in 1898.
