Established in 1918 by the Young Women's Christian Association, International Institute of Buffalo is a nonprofit organization. It provides assistance for immigrants, refugees, families and other people who face linguistic and cultural barriers to become self-sufficient and productive members of society. The organization offers food, clothing, housing options and medical care services. It also provides employment training, job placement and school advocacy services. International Institute of Buffalo offers interpreting and translation services for more than 75 languages through a staff of over 250 translators and interpreters in various setting, such as hospitals, courts, social service organizations, businesses, police and government agencies. Additionally, it provides evening language courses in Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. International Institute of Buffalo is located in Buffalo, N.Y.
