The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada (IATSE) was established in 1893 in New York City with the goal of advocating for fair wages and working conditions for entertainment industry workers. Today, IATSE represents over 168,000 workers across various sectors including live theater, film and television production, trade shows, and concerts, striving to enhance the lives of entertainment workers both on and off the job.
Comprised of more than 360 autonomous Local Unions in the U.S. and Canada, IATSE negotiates labor contracts, administers health and retirement funds, and provides training and education for its members. The organization is structured into 13 geographical districts, each playing a vital role in coordinating activities, fostering communication, and supporting the political and legislative endeavors of affiliated local unions.
