Founded in 1873, the Homer Fire Department provides a variety of fire protection and prevention services for the residents of the Village of Homer in New York. The department serves more than 13,000 individuals. It maintains a fleet of engines and tankers. The Homer Fire Department is comprised of Triumph Hose Co. No. 1, Tioughnioga Hose Co. No. 2, West Side Hose Co. No. 3, and Homer Hook and Ladder Co. The Village of Homer also operates a police department, churches and schools. The village administers Phillips Free Library, which specializes in computerized circulation. It also offers trash collection and recycling programs.
