The Greater Rochester International Airport is in Monroe County, New York and serves five area counties. The airport is about three miles from the center of Rochester, New York. The airport started small when it was built in 1927, but its proximity to New York City and World War I and II brought rapid growth to the area. By 1963 the airport consisted of two concourses with ten gates between them. 1977 saw the introduction of jet ways, expansion continued through the 1980’s and with this growth came a new name. Great Rochester International Airport got is name in 1985.
Currently ROC Airport has two concourses housing 22 gates. There are nine airlines flying to and from the airport serving several domestic and international destinations. Delta Air Lines is the largest carrier and Atlanta, New York City and Chicago are the three most popular destinations.
Airport parking options include long-term, short-term, weekly parking, a shuttle lot, economy lot, valet parking and a cell phone lot. Rochester Transport Service offers rides to and from the airport as well as Amtrak and Greyhound. There are options for rental cars, taxis and limos as well. The Fairfield Inn by Marriott Rochester Airport is conveniently located on sight and is within walking distance of the terminal. Several other hotels are located near ROC and offer shuttle service to the airport.
