Since 1901, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church has been providing residents of Pearl River and the surrounding communities of Rockland, Orange and Bergen counties a place to practice their faith. Led by Pastor John Havrilla, Good Shepherd inspires its congregants to reinterpret the bible as it pertains to the world of their generation. Weekly services are held every Sunday. An additional Saturday service is held once a month for half an hour.
An extensive music program provides parishioners a chance to express their prayer through music with regular rehearsals and performances. Youth groups, which meet at various times throughout the week, are available for children and adolescents beginning in third grade and continuing all the way up through high school. Religious education continues on into adulthood with events and discussion groups for college students and adults.
In addition to all the activities available to members of the congregation, Good Shepherd also participates in numerous programs to benefit the community at large. One way in which the church supports the community is by hosting a variety of groups and programs. It also supports a vast array of programs and ministries to benefit the needy in the United States and abroad.
