History
The breakfast and lunch restaurant was opened and run by George Pourakis in 1978. There was a kitchen fire in 1985 and George managed to re-open the diner a year later. Sadly George passed away in 1998, leaving George's Place to his son Costas. Currently owned and managed by Costas and Karen Pourakis, George's Place is a family restaurant in the heart of Carmel, NY. The restaurant features indoor & outdoor seating overlooking Lake Gleneida. In April 2015, the restaurant received a re-modeling by the new Food Network show called American Diner Revival, featuring American television host Ty Pennington & Chef Amanda Freitag. George's Place is featured on Season 1 Episode 3 of American Diner Revival, the episode titled: Farm Fresh Fiasco!
