Garden City Nursery School is a non-profit cooperative school operated by parents and teachers for children of ages 2-5.
The school was founded in 1951 under the sponsorship of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). In 1957, existing school building was built.
The school aims to help a child's development socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically with guidance as its primary interest.
Students are accepted according to the following priorities: 1) Currently enrolled children; 2) Siblings of currently enrolled children; 3) Siblings of previously enrolled children; 4) Children of Garden City Nursery School alumni; 5) Children of AAUW members first within Garden City and then outside Garden City; 6) Children of Garden City residents; 7) Children outside the Garden City school district.
