History
FDA is the brain child of native son Phil French. One might say distilling is in his blood. He built the distillery at the site that his relative, Dr. Selphonius French, settled in the early 1800's. Today, Phil's son and brother are key crew members at FDA. After building the Still-house and Tasting room, we started mashing in early 2016. We opened the tasting room to the public in May of 2016.
Specialties
We're an artisanal distillery dedicated to making hand-crafted whiskies in small batches using only locally grown grains including corn, rye, wheat and malted barley. Our crew carries out the entire process of mashing, distilling, aging and bottling by hand. They use a double-distillation technique for their spirits. The first (legal) distillery in Broome County since prohibition. We mash, distill, age and bottle at our still-house -- farm to bottle small batch whisky. Currently selling Lilah's Lightning - a wheated bourbon mash, Village Idiot - a rye mash, Wylde Side Wheat Whisky, and Otselic Bourbon.
