Family Court offers new justice conflict resolution and mediation services, as well as hears matters involving children and families. The court administers drug treatment and parent support programs. It handles cases related to adoption, guardianship, juvenile delinquency and abused and neglected children. Family Court also makes legal decisions related to domestic violence, paternity, child and spousal support, and custody and visitation cases. The court is authorized to hear petitions concerning services for children with developmental disabilities. In addition, it manages a children drop-in center. The court handles more than 22,000 filings annually. Family Court is managed by the New York State Unified Court System.
