Located in Lockport, N.Y., the Niagara County Sheriff's Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that protects individual rights, safeguards public and private property, assists in emergency situations and performs any other essential service. It maintains aviation, civil process, community services, crime scene identification, domestic violence, marine, mounted and patrol divisions. In addition, the Niagara County Sheriff's Department has welfare fraud, underwater recovery, warrant and records units. The department supports the Explorer Program, which provides law enforcement training to students between the ages of 14 and 21. The Niagara County Sheriff's Department also operates several specialized sections, such as a drug task force, juvenile bureau and victim assistance unit.
