Elmhurst Senior Center is a residential facility that offers a range of assisted living services for senior citizens. It is a part of the Institute for the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Elderly, which is one of the largest Hispanic, nonprofit organizations in New York City. Founded in 1978, the organization works to affirm, protect and empower senior citizens and their families. It is a member of various local, state and national agencies. The organization also operates the Hispanic Senior Action Council, which has more than 4,500 members. It provides counseling, case management, multilingual and multicultural information, and referral and advocacy services. In addition, the organization conducts several conferences, workshops and presentations related to voter education and leadership training.
