HistoryThe City of Light Sanctuary began when Mokshapriya was nudged by spirit to purchase the founding 30 acres of property in 2009. Through divine grace, and a lot of hard work, we were we able to finance and re-energize the property. We were able to restore one of the old cottages and the barn--the cottage currently serves as the main building. The only thing missing from the property was naturally flowing water. Mokshapriya knew that this was a requirement for the land , so she built a pond, complete with a water pump, koi, and frogs. Since that time, we've added an open-air yoga pad, a meditation hall (the Shanti Kutir), a Shiva temple, an octagonal gazebo, and hiking trails throughout the property. In 2016, Mokshapriya was again nudged and she purchased the adjacent 13 acres, complete with a flowing brook. She finally had the flowing water that was on her original requirement list for the property.SpecialtiesWe are committed to evolution through community, re-igniting humanity's connection with nature, and non-denominational spiritual education. We help people to develop a healthier and happier outlook on life, seek inner peace through meditation and yoga, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves through remembering how to live in harmony with nature. We are a safe, quiet, natural environment--truly a sanctuary--where individuals and families can retreat for a day or a weekend to foster inner peace, restore themselves, reconnect, and integrate mind, body, and spirit. We are a gathering place where groups may hold workshops or retreats that maintain principles of meditation, reflection, physical health, stress management, peace, love, harmony with nature, and community.
