History
Djoniba Dance & Drum Centre was founded in 1992 by the internationally-acclaimed dancer, drummer, musical composer and choreographer Djoniba Mouflet. DDDC was the first school in the USA to offer the best variety of African-based dance classes as well as Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Belly dance and other dance forms. In 1992 The school was located in its own 9000 square foot space on 18th street with 4 studios and a recording studio, an african import store, offering hundreds of dance classes for adults and children with more than 200 renowned teachers. The DDC Kids Scholarship Fund has provided free dance and drumming classes to more than 1,500 children from low-income families.
