Incorporated in 1894, Village of Depew is one of the largest villages in western New York. Its Public Works Department has various responsibilities, including snow plowing, garbage collection and recycling, as well as disposal of televisions, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioning units. In addition, the department provides paving, road maintenance, tree removal and trimming, storm sewer maintenance and brush pickup. Village of Depew's other departments comprise Depew justice court, fire, police, electrical and fire alarm, building inspection and office of emergency management.
