Carrier Dome is a stadium located in Syracuse, New York on the campus of Syracuse University. Carrier Dome currently houses the NCAA team the Syracuse Orange. The stadium opened under its current name on September 20, 1980 with the construction taking just over a year and a half at a cost of just over $26.8 million, $74.8 million in present day dollars. The latest renovation was in 2003, which didn’t add seats but updated the amenities.
The Syracuse Orange are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference of the within National Collegiate Athletic Association. They are known by their team colors consisting of orange, white and blue. Their mascot is Otto the Orange. Past players include Ernie Davis, Dwight Freeney and Donovan McNabb.
The stadium currently holds 49,262 fans. Currently, it is the 72nd largest stadium in the NCAA. The Carrier Dome is also a great venue for concerts and has hosted such musicians as U2, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen. In terms of parking there is on-campus parking and satellite parking lots both containing general and reserved spots.
Season tickets are available with prices starting around $99. Individual tickets start at about $52 depending on the game. Tickets are available through the team website and ticket exchanges.
