A summer day camp, Camp Karole has been held at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons for almost 35 years. There are four one-week sessions in July and August for children 3 to 11 years old. Many of the campers return as counselors. In fact, the camp director was one of the original 3-years-olds who attended when the camp started. Campers receive water instruction in the pool at the center, which is used exclusively for the camp; take part in sports on the fields; and participate in drama, music, and arts and crafts. They also take field trips to bowl, kayak, golf, play at the beach and visit local attractions. There were about 200 attendees in 2010. The camp offers pick-up and drop-off from stops in Water Mill, Sagaponack, in the Northwest Woods section of East Hampton and Amagansett.
