The Business Council of New York State is one of the largest broad-based organizations, representing the interests of large and small firms throughout the United States. The Business Council comprises more than 1,000 member firms and over 100 chambers of commerce and professional and trade associations, including Kodak, Xerox, Mitchell Ross Associates, Architects, PC and GEM Associates. The council was formed in 1980 as a result of a merger between the Associated Industries of New York State and the Empire State Chamber of Commerce. The primary function of the organization is to serve as an advocate for employers in the state political and legislative arena. It also serves as an information resource center, providing practical business knowledge through personal contact, publications and seminars. The council provides individualized regulatory intervention with state agencies. The Business Council of New York State is headquartered in Albany, N.Y.
