Part of Brooklyn College, the Brooklyn College Academy was established in 1986 as part of a collaborative effort between the Board of Education and the City University of New York. The school caters to students seeking a more individualized educational experience and smaller class sizes.
The Bridges to Brooklyn campus serves as the home for Lower Institute Program for 7th and 8th graders, as well as the Middle Institute for 9th and 10th graders. It is a satellite campus to the main campus, which is located at 2900 Bedford Avenue. Brooklyn College Academy as a whole received an "A" grade from the Dept. of Education for the 2010-2011 school year.
