The Boys' Club of New York is one of the oldest, charitable institutions in New York. Founded in 1876, it administers the R.E.A.D. Program, which is designed to foster and encourage appropriate habits and patterns relative to the acquisition of basic and advanced reading skills. The organization also conducts is a six-week residential summer school program that serves more than 150 boys in grades six through eight and offers classes in English, math, science, social studies, Chinese and Spanish. The Boys' Club of New York also offers opportunities to participate in sports activities, such as baseball and boxing.
