The American Cancer Society Eastern Division, the regional-level organization of the American Cancer Society, offers a variety of cancer support programs throughout the Eastern United States. The advocacy department of the Eastern division coordinates public policy issues and supports the goals of the American Cancer Society by working with legislators to pass laws that will help eliminate cancer in our lifetime. The division s main fundraisers are the Babe Zaharias Pro-Am Golf Tournament in Pompey, N.Y., and the Run For Life marathon in Utica, N.Y. All proceeds raised from the event benefits the American Cancer Society s research, education, advocacy, and patient service programs. The American Cancer Society Eastern Division maintains its headquarters in East Syracuse, N.Y. The American Cancer Society is headquartered in Atlanta and provides information on all aspects of cancer through a toll-free information line, Web site and published materials.
