Established in 1949, Association for the Help of Retarded Children, also known as Suffolk AHRC, provides programs and services to more than 2,500 men, women and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It offers early intervention programs for children with multiple disorders. The agency also provides physical, occupational, speech, nursing and play therapies. Association for the Help of Retarded Children offers vocational programs and family support and counseling services. In addition, it provides a range of residential options and hospice and respite care services. The agency has a team of more than 1,000 staff members.
