Established in 2000, Aguila is a nonprofit organization that offers transitional housing for homeless families throughout New York. The organization provides adult education and conducts parenting classes. It offers substance abuse prevention and psychiatric services. The organization also provides employment assistance, clothing and legal services. Aguila s social services program focuses on enhancing each family s ability to establish an independent living status. Its residents are assisted with services, such as acquiring proper documentation, verification of residence and apartment hunting. In partnership with Vocational Instructional Program, a community-based organization, the organization offers 400-plus-bed shelter for men. Aguila is located in Bronx, N.Y.
